Danforth Update - v 1.0.58746 - 11/06/2020
Turrets and Spider Drones can now be manually controlled by the player as long as they have a Technician or Infiltrator under their control.
This control lasts as long as those units stay alive or do not become mind controlled. If the units leave the battlefield or become mind controlled then the turrets/spider drones will continue moving and shooting using their own AI.

I was surprised when a deployed turret nearly killed my sniper after it had paralysed a poison worm. The threat assessment AI targeted that worm through the legs of my sniper, crippling him and killing the worm I was trying to capture.
I'm not sure if the proposed solution would solve this particular issue, but now I know not to attempt capture when turrets have line of sight to the intended target, or at least reserve some APs to collect them before the end of the turn. ;)

Copying my comment in the other thread: Well their purpose is to be automated, I hope this doesn't mean that manual control will cost WP... maybe action points only? The problem is, you deploy them because they're automated, but if you have to give up automation for them to be useful while spending more action points, they may not be worth it. Please test it both with an action cost and without it to see what's better!

Carlos Eduardo: The proposal is following:
Technicians & Infiltrators have the MANUAL CONTROL abilities at level one (Under Deploy Turret and Deploy Spider Drone, respectively)
The MANUAL CONTROL ability is changed to allow the player to use the soldier’s APs to use the TURRET (or vehicle weapon) at a cost of [1AP] for action.
When controlling the Spider Drone, the player has the DETONATE action available

Vit Barta: Will we be able to move the spider drone too? I think that's the main issue with them atm.

planned
We plan to make Infiltrator's spider drones and Technician's turrets manually controllable.

Vit Barta: As long as that's an option only. They should remain automated, but we should be able to take them over and guide them if we want to, like Turrets behave at the moment.
Personally, I find the ability to fire & forget a spread of drones, which then keeps the Nasties occupied while I spend my precious AP/WPs on other things is invaluable.
But I agree that there are times when you'd like to tell the stupid drone NOT to target that redundant Nasty over there, but concentrate on that dangerous Nasty over here.
Carlos Eduardo
Mike Ibeji: That's a great suggestion, manual control could be used to assign a preferable target.

I don't agree mate.
I would like them to have AI which actually targets enemies!
PamdaDev
YES. Or at least have a greatly improved AI. Too frequently they explode outside enemy range and/or explode my own units.
