Armor pieces as loot
Irwin Choy
I think since you can get random weapon/ammo as loot (from both enemy bodies or boxes), why not random armor pieces? This may make interesting games especially in early stages when you can get "cheap" recruits for food but have to manufacture armor for them. You might have to improvise from different armor type pieces.

It would be nice to find armour pieces, similar like ammo or weapons, during (scavenging) missions. When playing on a higher you get often low on resources and it helps if you find some armour pieces instead of having to produce them for the new recruits. Another thing to add is to make the independent/bandit items researchable.

I've always hated this about the game. Beyond the limited character/armor editor there is no way to have your crew change appearance. I know there's things like blast carapace addons and cybernetics but armor upgrades with slight variation to look would add so much. It just seems less immersive to have your level 10 fully level trooper still in the same armor they started with.

Would be nice with better armors in general. I mean the pandorans evolve the whole game, but you finish in the same armor most the time

100% agree. Like the weapons it should be a possible drop from an enemy. You can make the odds low, like the weapon drop, but it should be there.
A) It makes sense that if you can strip weapons and ammo you can strip armor pieces.
B) As with weapons, building armor is resource intensive in an already, and increasingly, very tight resource dynamic. As more expansions come online, with more places your resources are needed (like now we need air combat systems), getting a piece of armor here and there would be a nice way to compensate.

This has some analogies with this other one: https://feedback.phoenixpoint.info/feedback/p/let-players-recover-armour-from-soldiers-killed-in-action
Personally, I'd rather prefer that recruits come at least with a basic armour.

would be nice ;)

It's also a great way to make the salvage missions have more meaningful choices as armor parts can be heavier than most items. If you're slowed down enough while taking them, and there are more enemies in the waves, you would be hard pressed to really choose between taking everything or just the best stuff.

I'd love to see this!

Agreed, there should be something like the armor the was shot to kill the enemy gets destroyed but the rest can be lootable. Maybe explosives destroy all armor
