Improve Map Variety

Is this still being actively worked on or just a left over ticket after DLC5? Should we expect a new update with more maps? If so, will that require starting a new campaign?
Mosec Contrera
I think we should have some Maps be on Destroyed city Parcels, Where we rescue Some survivors that join Phoenix as soldiers, or Maybe just give us supplies as award. or something.

Yo we need more snowy maps. I found it very un-immersive to do legacy of the ancients blueprint grabbing missions in Antarctica and it has a regular forest tileset.
Vandor
It would be nice to have missions entirely inside a large building. Maybe make your way through a 2 story office building or mall.

I know Unity isn't very efficient with resources, but ... the maps are TINY and EXTREMELY FLAT.
Consider making them much bigger (but the map size should be random) and add a lot of terrain verticality to the maps. Kind of like the original X-com had for some maps.
Also consider adding wilderness areas, like dense forests, overgrown farmlands, infected pulsating mountain ranges, blood-ice wastelands with spike protrusions in the north... there is so much that can be done with some imagination.
Wormerine
John Templayer: And more importantly time and money :-) Imagination is the easy part.
John Templayer
Wormerine: The devs have both, thanks to Epic and scamming the backers. >_>

John Templayer: 😂 How adorably delusional of you.

Danforth Update - v 1.0.58746 - 11/06/2020
Scavenging Sites and Overgrown Environments - Later in the game, players will encounter the Overgrown variant of the scavenging sites which offer better rewards.
Pandoran Citadels Rework - Pandoran Citadels are now bigger and have a more labyrinthian design with high walls blocking the players’ line of sight. Weapon and ammo crates can now be found in Citadels as well as alien structures.
More to come :)

The new overgrown scavenger map tileset that has been added in the Danforth patch is a good addition to the game, that makes sense for it to exist in the game world and provides welcome variety to the scavenger missions.
But in another patch, will we also receive a scavenger map tileset for mist-covered scavenger missions, that is overgrown with mutated Pandoran vegetation as well?
If a mist zone is covering a scavenging site on the geoscape, wouldn’t it make sense that it would be infecting and mutating the native plant life at that location?
Like a mutated version of the overgrown scavenger map tileset, where the ruined buildings and ground are covered with pulsating purple vines like the ones at the bridge entrance of Fort Freiheit in BB1 and BB2, and where the mutated Pandoran plants that are already in the Pandoran nest, lair and citadel tilesets and the Disciples of Anu Slum and Temple tilesets could be placed all over the map.
Not to mention having quite a few mist sentinels and already existing mist patches throughout the map.
Scavenger map missions with a tileset like this could do a lot to further the impression to the player that the Pandoravirus is constantly spreading all over the earth, changing the Earth’s ecosystem over time into a Pandoran ecosystem that is increasingly alien, nightmarish and hostile to humanity.
A Pandoravirus-mutated overgrown scavenger map tileset has the potential to be very atmospheric and immersive to play in. Could a map tileset like this get added to the game in a future patch?

Even if the maps were effected by the location on the earth a little bit

Further to this, special missions should have well developed special maps with their own assets (or some at least) with some banter and further plot developing on them.
Special missions as of now don't feel special at all, which is a pity :(

In the next patch we will ad 6 more designs (plots) for Lairs. In the later patch we will add new environment.

Vit Barta: I thought there was procedural generation for maps? Is that not true?
Mårten Woxberg
Matt Hobbs: Yes but there are designs

Mårten Woxberg: Okay, so 6 more lair designs could equate to many more generated maps/layouts for lairs?

Matt Hobbs: Check out this link.
Phoenix Point most likely does something like this.

Vit Barta: This, and the customization stuff is all ripe for modding. I know adding Mod Support is a big deal, and later in the roadmap for you, but getting something workable in place would allow the community to start taking up slack in this space and free you guys up to work other, more foundational stuff.
