Improving the enemy AI
complete
The King
Here is a list of general AI issues:
- The AI has the tendency to stand out in the open, regardless of available cover.
- The AI uses overwatch inefficiently, it tends to aim at arbitrary directions and uses overwatch in the open as well. When fired at from an unknown position with a long range weapon, the AI sometimes wastes a turn using overwatch, Arthrons tend to show this behavior.
- The AI does not account for the AP cost of firing a weapon or using an ability (i.e. jetpack). Erratic movement (jetpack included) is sometimes prioritized over firing a weapon several times (or using an ability). This is especially noticable with NJ heavies.
- The AI wastes medkits on barely wounded allies and puts one or more soldiers in the open just to heal one friendly.
- The AI sometimes ignores certain targets if they're in a specific position (i.e. a few tiles away and crouching next to a fence).
- The AI forgets about priority targets if they're not visible. A heavily wounded target will not be looked for if another target is nearby.
- The vehicle AI is extremely inefficient at using its AP, entire turns are spent wandering around even when the vehicle is alerted. This is especially noticable with the Aspida.

Opponents stand around completely open

The opponents especially the Pandas and Forsaken often end their turn completely without cover. If the opponent cannot reach the player with a e.g. melee build the priority should be to find the way through different cover elements.
Unfortunately, I could observe several times that the opponent initially looks for cover and even finds it, in order to then take the last AP out of cover for a few steps and then stand around completely open.

AI often cannot really handle Infiltrator Class.
For example, I have often had several infiltrators running right next to me in the entire turn without shooting or doing anything useful.

All true, but despite all these issues I must admit that the AI in Phoenix Point is fairly competent.

I've noticed a similar thing since the last patch. Once had an enemy mutog just shuffle around aimlessly near edge of map while I picked it to death from a distance over about 5-6 turns - never even started to engage me... just grazing on the lawn I guess! Arthrons also seem much less aggressive to me - often find them not really doing much with their turns, particularly on the larger two of the Pandoran maps ('lairs' and 'citadels'?)

I agree, and many times the Pure use their disruptor head ability too much, only that in the entire turn, instead of engage, flank or other strategies

This is my experience as well, especially the part where they run into cover but then move 1-2 tiles away from it into open.
